I am an artist, writer, mediator, social justice activist, entrepreneur, grandmother-to-be, singer in the Unitarian choir, and optimist. I have been the communications director for national non-profits (Common Cause and the Women’s Legal Defense Fund) and a full time watercolor artist on the craft show circuit before returning to college in my 50′s for a Masters degree in mediation.
With The Happiness Paradigm, I am blending my left brain education, training, and experience with my right brain compassion and creativity to help find new pathways forward in the face of almost incomprehensible world challenges. Given the urgency of climate change, income inequality, and peak oil, I believe one answer lies in shifting our ideas of success toward genuine well being for people and the planet — moving away from the concept that money and stuff are the benchmarks for happiness.
So far, The Happiness Paradigm includes this blog, and a physical location — “The Happiness Paradigm Store and Experience,” in Maple Corner, Vermont. Hours for the store and experience are 10-5 on Fridays and Saturdays. Fridays and Saturdays, there will also be group meditation for all who care to join at 9:30 AM.
My ideas of happiness are based on Gross National Happiness research, as well as positive psychology. What are yours? Let’s explore this together.
